First District Democrats urge DelBene and Larsen to support H.R. 676

House Bill Would Expand and Improve Medicare for All

Bothell, WA, April 17, 2017– The First District Democrats passed a resolution Monday urging Representatives Rick Larsen and Suzan DelBene to support H.R. 676, the Expanded & Improved Medicare for All Act.

Medicare for All is the best solution to the healthcare problem in this country. It would lower the cost of health insurance for the vast majority of citizens, while providing necessary healthcare for everyone. It would reduce the burden to employers of providing healthcare for their employees, saving companies  billions, and it would free citizens from the threat of bankruptcy due to a medical emergency, allowing them to change careers or start businesses without fear of getting sick and losing it all.

Ninety-nine House Democrats, including Representatives Pramila Jayapal and Adam Smith have signed on as co-sponsors of the bill, which would provide free health care to all individuals residing in the United States and U.S. territories. A 2016 poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that over 80% of Democrats and 64% of all Americans support such a plan.

We urge our Representatives to join their fellow Americans and show their support for this commonsense solution to a national crisis.
