Grassroots is our only hope and we need you.
We thank you for finding our web page and we are inviting you to join us in renewing the American dream and protecting what’s left of it for our children.
If you have been watching the news, you can’t help but notice the dangerous direction Republican leadership in the country and the states are taking us. From their desire to start another middle eastern war, to the legislation in many states to deny our fellow Americans civil rights, earning a living wage, access to safe and affordable healthcare or even allow the words ‘Climate change” to be uttered, this is not what the American people want.
The party that hates government continues to prove how bad government can be when they are making legislative choices. You see that they continue to shirk their duties of legislating good policy for the American people. They have not been writing laws that would lead to more jobs, protect the environment, improve healthcare or even continue to fund basic government services like education or repairing our crumbling infrastructure. Instead they have been trying to do just the opposite. They are emboldened by the Citizens United ruling and the unlimited monies that they can use to buy votes to service the top 1%. Even this is a foolish path, as the destruction of a middle class or access to an educated workforce will bring us all into another GOP fueled depression.
Even in our own state, the GOP led Senate is making a mockery of what the people want and expect our government to provide at a minimum. We know they are not big believers in science, but to deny basic math on what the costs are and where the funds will come from should be considered criminal as they try to work on a smoke and mirrors budget.
Take a look at what the editorial boards from across the state are saying about their gimmicks.
We cannot compete with their money, we can only hope for a better America if we have enough people like you sharing the truth and getting good progressive candidates elected at all levels.
We need you, to help us spread the word, and we will give you the tools to do it. A few hours a month is all we are looking for. If you can’t spare the time, then please consider becoming a member or making a donation or even supporting our fundraising efforts by buying a Mother’s day plant. This will help those of us who are putting in the time and effort to educate and inform the public, the resources we need.
We meet the second Monday of the month in Bothell (link) and we think you might enjoy what we’re doing. We have put together a wonderful continuing education program for the rest of the year of topical speakers on issues that you have said are important to you. On April 13th we will have two speakers; First Vandana Whitney will be discussing the very timely issue of making sure that the “fast tracking” of the Trans Pacific partnership (a very evil trade bill) does not happen. We believe that all people would agree that seeing the contents of a trade agreement before it is signed, should not be too much to ask.
Our second speaker will be Todd Myers from Carbon Washington. This is a very interesting non-partisan group addressing the costs and risks involved with the release of carbon into our environment. They are working on an initiative to find a proper balance between business and environmental concerns.
Our meeting starts at 7:00 officially, but we’re serving a little dinner at 6:00, so you can come straight from work. (a small donation would be appreciated ) So get on the phone and invite friends and family and have them join us for a wonderful night.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any question or just stop by.
“We can be the change we want to see.”
