My name is Dan Willner; I live in the Parkshore precinct of north Bothell and I was elected to be the chair of the First Legislative district Democratic Party in January 2015. We are a membership organization that meets monthly on the second Monday of the month at the IUOE Union Hall in Bothell, off the North Creek Parkway and 120th. We hope you will consider joining us. We offer you access to your elected officials, and we often have topical speakers about the issues of the day. We do a potluck dinner at 6:00 and meeting starts at 7:00. Our website has all the information you will need to get involved, 1stld.democrat. I’d also like to invite you to join us for our Issues Forum on April 9. The subject is; “Is the economy working for you.” We need your input to share with those and help us form an action plan to help those who need it, That’s what progressives do. Please sign up online, choose your lunch and we’ll see you there. We raise money in a number of ways, but mostly through membership dues and donations. We hope you will consider supporting our main goal of getting good Democrats elected by becoming a member, or making a donation today. We appreciate whatever you can do. Doing the the 7 Caucus sites we spent over $5,000 for location rentals and printing costs, and hope you will help us replenish our coffers so we can get good Democrats elected up and down the ballot every year. In 2015, we were very successful in turning the Bothell City Council blue for the first time in 20 years, with just a small bunch of volunteers. Right now in Olympia, we are a couple of house seats and a Governor’s race this year away from losing Democratic control of the state. We need your help to make sure we take back the Senate, keep control of the House, and reelect Jay Inslee. Together we can achieve so much more.
Thank you. Dan Willner, Chair of the First LD Democratic party.
Join us for our coming meeting where presenters - Chris Gray and Liz Mills.
They will give a presentation on the alarming statistics of the Seattle Metro area that includes King and Snohomish Counties. There are a lot of reasons people end up homeless but one of the growing reasons is the increasing cost of housing in this area. We will explore what is happening here to people who are living in poverty and what and why is being done to support these families. They will present specifically what each of their organizations are doing to address housing for our very low income and homeless population.
